I’d just like to say I appreciated the integrity displayed by Halco throughout this process. I initially had my worries that we were going to be sold on a lot of things we didn’t need, but the first visit from George helped allay those fears. He pointed out aspects of the house we were not aware of as problems. Such as the bathroom fans venting into the attic, air circulation in the basement, issues with the dryer, and of course the leaking gas pipes. We were glad when the crew came out to fix these issues and more and also bring our insulation up to code. When George came out for the follow-up visit, he found that the gas pipes still had a minor leak, and I was impressed that Halco would double-check their work. Then the crew returned and they showed me how gas leaks are confirmed with that special fluid. Then I could actually see the bubble form and understand the process. That was useful for me to see. The crew then immediately redid the joint and we confirmed the seal was good. Then the guy gave me tips as he reignited the pilot on the water heater before they left. The ability to recognize, acknowledge and fix mistakes has become rare, and I am glad to see it exists at Halco.

Dear Mr. Smith – We are really grateful for the manner in which your crew performed their job, the installation of our new steam boiler was done without a hitch – perfectly! Josh made sure we understood exactly what was being done and his knowledge and skills are evident. He was so genial and worked well with Zach and Brennan, who also made the whole experience a pleasure. We thank you all at HALCO for the great service you provide. We’ve been loyal and grateful customers for many decades.

Hal, I wanted to drop a quick note of appreciation for the crew that handled the recent mechanical install of our LG heat pump system. I have to say that I was initially skeptical that such a large company could maintain such a client-centered approach, but your people pulled it off. From my first meeting with Matt Dennis, where I explained that we were just looking for a ballpark cost and some design ideas for our 200-year old farmhouse (so many small rooms…), I could see that HALCO was going to be easy to work with. He took his time, walked through the house, discussed some options and his thoughts, and didn’t try to sell us anything. I knew we were at least a few years out from buying anything, so he was just establishing a relationship. Then the NYSERDA rules changed, and suddenly ‘a few years’ became ‘a few months’. Matt came out again and did a full study of the house, including a blower door test. He went back and designed a system for us, and about two months later (delayed for a refi on our house), Dan and Rob showed up to install. Even though our crazy-complicated install (kind of a complex attic) took two days longer than expected, they took the time to do everything right and asked for my input as they went. I grew up in an HVAC business household. Both my father and grandfather owned companies and have run service calls their entire lives, so I know just enough to be dangerous. Plus, I grew up in Florida 20 years ago, so I know nothing of the current state of the art in a cold climate. Nonetheless, everybody was willing to answer my questions and listen to my suggestions about where we might run ductwork, place the air handler, run linesets and electrical, and everything else. As a result, I have a system and an install where there’s nothing that forces me to say ‘I would’ve done that differently’. And I imagine that thanks also go to you for building a culture that encourages getting it right. The fact that all of these guys are trusted enough to work it out in the field and make sure the customer is satisfied and the system is right is a testament to that culture. Thank you. I will definitely call HALCO in the future when the need arises.

Dear Halco Staff – Yesterday I was in dire need of assistance. My a/c unit in the MBR was leaking – all over. I know your schedule was packed yesterday, but somehow you were able to send help. Travis was polite and efficient. Thank you so very much! Yesterday was Monday. Two days prior, on Saturday, I had a service call to check on the boiler and a/c units. Everything was fine when the serviceman left. Mark was also polite and efficient. Thank you for all of your help.

Good Morning Mr. Smith: Monday, May 24 thru Thursday, May 27 two of your employees, James S. and Josh B., installed a sump pump and dehumidifier in our crawl space and addressed mold issues. We want to let you know how pleased we were with the quality of work performed. James and Josh were very respectful of our home and the concerns we had all along the way. The decision to have this work done was costly and was not reached lightly; so to have two professional young men with their skills and courtesy put our minds at ease. Sean Hillson, the building analyst, was also very helpful and responsive to our calls and communication in a very timely manner.We feel comfortable that as time passes. if any concerns come up with the work performed, the team will follow through and make things right.
