Halco Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning is among the top 100 fastest growing privately held companies in the Rochester area according to the Rochester Business Alliance. To qualify, a company had to show significant sales gains over the past three years. This was the first year that the Phelps-based company qualified for the annual ranking, and was ranked number 93.
Hal and Tammy Smith were cited at a recent luncheon at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center. When asked about the benefits of doing business here, Hal Smith credits the Finger Lakes Workforce Investment Board and the employee training help they have provided.
Over the past two years, Halco has been recognized for many innovative programs. Earlier this year, the Air Conditioning Contractors of America (ACCA) cited Halco for having the best training program in the country and elected the company to its Safety Masters Club. The safety award was presented for Halco’s excellent safety record, which has also earned the company awards from its insurance company. Also, International Service Leadership (ISL) honored Halco with its Pathfinder Award for “doing things other contractors have not even considered” and the Phelps Chamber of Commerce presented Halco with its Pass the Torch award as an outstanding example of family business ownership.
Since its establishment in 1984, Halco has grown to more than 115 employees and serves residential and commercial customers in an area stretching from Rochester to Utica and from the Pennsylvania to the Canadian border.
