This Syracuse, NY customer called us to see what could be done about the abundance of moisture and mustiness coming from their basement. We started the project off by removing the top 6′ of the existing concrete floor throughout the space. We laid 20 mil CleanSpace over the ground to act as a vapor barrier and added a 2′ layer of pea gravel over the top of it. The walls were covered with drainage matting, which will channel penetrative water to a newly-installed WaterGuard drainage system that runs along the entire perimeter of the basement floor. The water is then lead to PVC pipes, which flow directly into the customer’s new sump pump. We finished the job by adding 4′ of poured concrete to the floor and now, the customer has a basement where excessive moisture is no longer an issue!
