The GEOSTAR Top Job Competition aims to celebrate and showcase the incredible talent, creativity, and innovation of geothermal system designers and installers. It also serves as a platform to demonstrate to the broader audience the versatility and potential of geothermal heat pump technology. This year, the award winners have risen to the occasion, and Halco Home Solutions is honored to be recognized as the Residential Job Awardee.
Our team tackled a complex retrofit project, integrating cutting-edge geothermal technology to address the significant demand for retrofitting older homes—a task far more prevalent than building new ones. Halco Home Solutions successfully completed a comprehensive whole-home transformation, adhering to strict historical guidelines and navigating the rigorous village application process for the horizontal ground loop installation.
The project also included major shell work on the home. Originally powered by a coal-fired, two-pipe steam boiler, the Smith House was reimagined and upgraded to operate entirely on clean energy. At the heart of this transformation is the LG Quasi-Commercial System, delivering a 20-Ton, 3-Phase VRF with heat recovery. The system features 30 ductless heads and a Hydro Kit, ensuring efficient domestic hot water production.
