Halco Home Solutions is a (proudly!) independent, locally-owned company located in Phelps, NY that has been helping homeowners and businesses across the Finger Lakes improve indoor comfort, health, and energy efficiency since 1984. In over four decades in business, we have grown into a full-service home solutions company with deep expertise across a variety of home improvement services, including:

Hal Smith started Halco in 1984. Hal has proven to be an innovator and visionary. He has been a constant and primary force in Halco’s development into a leading company focused on providing full energy solutions for residential and commercial clients with an emphasis on quality, service, and sustainability.

Our History
1984: Halco opened its doors as Halco Plumbing & Heating DBA, providing residential plumbing and heating service and installation.
1993: The company continued to grow and incorporated as Halcyon, Inc.
1994: Halco began doing more mechanical and commercial service and installation work under the name Halco Mechanical. This work has expanded over time and now includes design and CAD work.
2004: Halco Electric was formed to perform commercial electrical service.
2007: Halco Mechanical and Halco Electric were combined into Halco MEP. Halco MEP provides complete mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design-build services. During this same period, Halco expanded into home energy performance, investing in training through the Building Performance Institute, National Comfort Institute, and the Comfort Institute. This work supported our transition to the “house as a system” approach, where homes work best when their systems are designed and maintained as a whole.
2009: Halco Renewable Energy was formed to design and build solar electric and geothermal heating systems for residential and commercial clients.
2018: Halco expanded its service offerings by becoming a certified Basement Systems dealer, adding professional basement waterproofing solutions to help homeowners address moisture, foundation, and water management challenges.
2023: Halco further grew its basement services division with the introduction of basement finishing under the “All Things Basementy” brand, providing complete lower-level transformations that improve comfort, usable living space, and overall home performance.
Today, Halco employs more than 170 local New Yorkers and has locations in Phelps, Syracuse, Ithaca, and Rochester. We have served over 50,000 customers across the Finger Lakes.
