Halco Home Solutions provides professional basement finishing services for homeowners throughout the Finger Lakes. We can quickly turn underused lower levels into a comfortable, functional living space.
Basements in this region often face higher moisture levels, cooler temperatures, and older construction details. Finishing these spaces requires materials and systems designed specifically for basement environments, not standard above-grade remodeling approaches.
By using the Total Basement Finishing System™, Halco helps homeowners in Rochester, Ithaca, Syracuse, and the surrounding areas create finished basements that are durable, comfortable, and built to last.

A finished basement adds usable space without changing your home’s footprint. Many homeowners choose basement finishing to create family rooms, home offices, guest areas, or hobby spaces.
Basement finishing can also improve comfort throughout the home by addressing insulation and air movement at the lowest level. When designed properly, finished basements are easier to maintain and better suited for long-term use than unfinished or partially finished spaces.
Halco’s Total Basement Finishing System™ Approach
Finishing a basement requires a different approach than remodeling upper levels of the home. Over the years, Halco’s crews have removed large amounts of mold-damaged wood framing, drywall, and flooring from basements that were finished using conventional materials. These materials often perform well elsewhere in the home, but they break down when exposed to typical basement conditions.
For this reason, Halco finishes basements using the Total Basement Finishing System™. This system is designed specifically for basements and includes products that are moisture-resistant and durable in below-grade environments, including:
- Wall panels
Available with or without integral rigid foam insulation, our wall panels feature a textured vinyl surface that repels water and moisture, resists mold, and cleans easily. - Insulation
Unlike fiberglass batt insulation, our spray foam basement insulation won’t absorb moisture, compress, lose R-value, fall out of place, or attract mold. It’s the best way to make your basement more comfortable and more energy efficient. - Molding & trim
Our solid vinyl molding eliminates any worries about peeling paint, mold, and moisture damage. - Floor matting
Made from waterproof, high-strength plastic, these interlocking floor tiles are the perfect underlayment for carpeting or sheet vinyl. - Flooring
Our flooring is available in tile and plank form, always with a plastic base that won’t support mold growth or sustain moisture damage. Our simulated wood planks resemble genuine wood flooring, without the drawbacks of real wood. - Ceiling tiles
Our tiles come with a 30-year warranty against sagging and a lifetime warranty against mold & mildew damage. - Basement windows
Our high-quality vinyl windows won’t ever rot, rust, or require painting. We have standard-size windows as well as oversized, egress windows that comply with code requirements for a basement bedroom.
Each product works as part of an integrated finishing system rather than a standalone upgrade.
Our Basement Finishing Installation Process
- Remove Existing Materials
Old or damaged basement finishes are removed when necessary to prepare the space for new construction. - Prepare Windows, Wells, and Stairways
Basement windows, window wells, and staircases are addressed early to set accurate layouts and maximize light and access. - Install Wall System and Doors
Moisture-resistant wall panels are fitted, fire blocking is installed, and doors are added where needed. - Install Ceiling and Lighting
Ceiling systems are planned around beams, ducts, and vents, with lighting installed before ceiling tiles are set. - Install Flooring and Underlayment
Finished flooring is installed over prepared surfaces to provide a durable, comfortable walking surface. - Add Trim and Finishing Touches
Base trim, door casing, and selected finishing details such as shelving or wall-mounted features are completed. - Final Cleanup
The space is thoroughly cleaned and debris is removed so the finished basement is ready to use.
Efficient Basement Remodeling from Start to Finish: “Yes, We Do That!”
The Total Basement Finishing System is designed to install efficiently while delivering durable, moisture-resistant results. Wall panels, flooring, and ceiling components are prefinished and engineered for basement conditions, which reduces construction time and limits disruption during installation.

This coordinated, whole-home approach keeps projects on schedule and ensures the finished space functions well as part of the home.
