Halco Awarded in 2013 Housing Innovation Awards

Halco was one of 46 contractors to be recognized in the first-ever Housing Innovation Awards, which were presented in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon 2013 and XPO in Irvine, Calif. The awards focused on four categories: Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Participating Contractors, DOE Challenge Home Builders, Excellence in Building Science Educator of the Year, and Building America Top Innovations.

Halco was recognized as a leader among their peers in the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® (HPwES) program. They were presented with the 2013 U.S. Department of Energy House Innovation Award for innovations in Market Leadership, Energy Savings, and Sales and Marketing. HPwES contractors must adhere to strict guidelines, including taking part in comprehensive training, using the whole-house systems approach, following program requirements, and using quality assurance measures to constantly improve workmanship.

According to ENERGY STAR®, the chosen winners “exhibit outstanding professionalism, build strong customer relationships, and apply building science solutions to improve homes.”

Since joining the HPwES program, Halco has grown their business by 25 percent each year. Hal Smith, president of Halco explains that providing home performance services helps business remain steady year round.
